Mission Statement
The mission of the Bridgeport Academy Alternative Education program is to afford our students the opportunity to excel academically, while modifying their behavior. We strive to instill in each student the desire to perform beyond their current academic level, as well as the self-discipline to enable them to meet the expectations of Hampton City Schools.

Thank you for visiting Bridgeport Academy's website. We hope this website serves as a valuable resource and communication tool between you and our school personnel.
Bridgeport Academy is the alternative education program for Hampton City Schools (HCS). Bridgeport Academy serves a diverse group of students in grades six through 12 who are placed with us through the HCS Student Services Department. Our classes are in session, Monday through Friday from 9:00 am - 3:30 pm. Students participate in core curriculum courses and also take classes in Health and Physical Education, Career and Technical Education, and Art.
The staff at Bridgeport Academy works to provide our students opportunities for academic learning and behavioral improvement while maintaining a traditional classroom setting. We equip our students with the skills necessary to either return to their home schools, or to obtain their General Education Development (GED®) Certificate.
In addition to students learning in traditional classroom settings, we offer some of our high school students the opportunity to earn credit through NOVA Net, which is a computer-based program. Teachers serve as NOVA Net facilitators and assist students in their quest to complete credit requirements.
We encourage your involvement in your child's education. Please feel free to contact any staff member or me if you have questions, require assistance, or would like to make an appointment.
Thank you,
A. Lipford
